In 2018 Garden Master and our partners Wastewater Australia were shortlisted as one of three possible companies by the Alaskan government to remedy serious water access problems in the northern US state of Alaska, which had been leading to a range of health issues.
A lack of access to fresh water had spurred the government into looking at ways to install closed-loop water recycling systems in homes so water from showers, washing machines and other uses can be cleaned and used over and over again.
We are proud to say Wastewater Australia and Garden Master were selected for the international project, with the proven technology of the ultraGTS grey water recycling plant being shipped to Alaska!
Alaska’s Unique Climate
Alaska is the largest and most sparsely populated U.S. state. It’s known for its diverse terrain of open spaces, mountains and forests, with abundant wildlife and many small towns. With bears larger than bison, national parks the size of nations, and glaciers bigger than other US states. Alaska is definitely an epic place! Alaska is one of the coldest places on earth, with record lows of -62 degrees Celsius! This brings unique challenges to the Alaskan government and community, particularly in relation to water in the winter months.
Treatment System Installation
After months of planning and years of development, two state-of-the-art ultraGTS Greywater Treatment Systems were installed in the wilds of Alaska. In conjunction with an Alaskan engineering firm, Summit Consulting, the two companies formed an alliance to improve environmental and sanitation outcomes throughout the remote communities of Alaska. In extreme conditions, the two companies brought together a mix of unparalleled knowledge and with the undeniable performance of the ultraGTS, the Alaskan government have seen tremendous results.
